I finished this awhile ago but only just got round to uploading it. I had to take a picture as it wouldnt fit in the scanner and it looks AWFUL. I see a lot of mistakes that have been highlighted by the crappy camera and the 2 or 3 good things about it are lost. It does need more work, the ripples are a bit wrong but i cant be bothered anymore with it. It already took so long.
image(C) to me, no stealing.
acrylic paints, karisma colours, metallic crayons.
enjoy!
this thing simply explodes of my monitor, absolutly incredible!!
great work on the background too, it so much brings the creature to life.
only tip I can give about the ripples is to do what you have allready done: around the tail tip.
you made a circular form "around" the object, where with the dragon you only made a line infront of the dragon and only directly in connection to the dragon.
maybe make alot of half circular ripples around different "objects" like the upper arm, the chest muscles etc.
if such a great monster would erupt from the water the ripples would probably be throughout the pool.
that goes for the wing aswell, it probably would have left some sort of wake and splashing up alot of water.
maybe you should look for pictures of whales jumping out of the water for inspiration, I believe they create more fountain like splashes then ripples.
that is... if they jump out, but with the ripples the dragon looks like it;s been in a-bathing-and-relaxing position allready for a little while, where your composition of the dragon suggest a real powerful jump-out-of-the-water kind of pose.
that sounds like so much bad critisisme, but it's not.
I hope you can use my tips and it is only about the ripples, the rest leaves me dumbstruck, really!!(in a positive way )
yeah, when i drew/painted it, i was intending it to be like a bath XD but its kinda a weird combination of a jump/bath. it would be really good to do a dragon jumping from the water though, so maybe i'll try it soon.
And thanks, the helpful comments mean alot and i do try to take notice (sometimes i forget stuff).

Hello there! This news article is the result of a thumb share thread I posted few days ago on the dA forum along with pictures from my favorites. I hope you enjoy them.
